Office Depot has made some key changes in its leadership team, including naming a new chief digital officer. Calkins was previously Office Depot’s executive VP and chief legal officer and has also been responsible for the company’s contract sales business and Canadian operations. He will also oversee the copy and print business.

He is a reservist, and had interesting perspectives on how the military operates versus private industry. One form of training I fondly recall from my Navy days was Navy Leadership Development school, or NAVLEAD. Aside from the cost, part of the reason may be our attitude towards "soft" disciplines such as leadership and supervision.

After a leadership gap of more than half a year, Zulily has announced the successor to its departing CEO Darrell Cavens, who moved on to lead new ventures with QVC’s Qurate Retail Group. What is interesting about the success of Bank of the Ozarks and its CEO is the fact that he wasn''t the "experienced banker" regulators almost insist upon when approving the appointment of bank leadership. Their ROA in 2006 when their assets were $2.5 There are plenty of sad stories of bank demise at the hands of experienced bankers.
